This is no new gospel I am sharing with you

I say that because there are some who tend to want to share things as if they had some new revelation.  This segment of the blog is not a bible teaching, it is an opinion piece that I believe is based on biblical truth.  We are not under bondage and forced to respond to every whim of men.  This is therefore something that I pose to readers as I continue to pose the notion to myself.  Feel free to leave me a comment whether you agree or not.

There are others who are overly concerned with anything that is too new and is therefore untried and untested and no more than fad.  This has the trappings of a fad but there is some real truth to the matter that we have become so attached to things that one might wonder whether we have things or do things have us. I have often said that every family in America can come up with a car full of stuff that they never use and/or don’t really value but it remains in their possession.

I have been challenged by the thinking promoted in this article and other articles like it.  Would we be better off if we didn’t have so many material things in our lives?  Or maybe would we be more likely to think of ourselves as citizens of The Kingdom of Christ if we weren’t so tied to the things of our earthly fiefdom?

But gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal;  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.  Matthew 6:20-21
